Relationship between Gas Adsorption and the Shrinkage and Creep of Recycled Aggregate Concrete
نویسنده
چکیده
In this work, it is described an experimental analysis of specimens of recycled concrete (RC) with replacement of natural aggregate with recycled aggregate originating from concrete (RCA). An experimental analysis to obtain the shrinkage and creep properties (basic and by drying) of RC was carried out. The replacement fraction of natural aggregate with RCA were 0%, 15%, 30%, 60% and 100% and the test conditions were 50% RH and 20 °C. The results of these trials were compared with mercury intrusion porosimetry tests (MIP) and gas adsorption (nitrogen), at 90 days. In the results, an increase in the shrinkage and creep properties of the RC with respect to conventional concrete was observed, while porosity values increased. However, the deformation evolution in the time is similar to conventional concrete.

Synopsis: This study presents the experimental results on properties of concrete with replacement of natural aggregate by recycled concrete aggregate (RCA). Experimental data on the creep behavior of concrete mixtures (basic and drying creep) was obtained. The replacement factor of natural aggregate by RCA were 0%, 15%, 30%, 60% and 100%, and the test conditions were 50% RH and 20°C. The result...
متن کاملExperimental Research on the Wettability of Recycled Aggregate Concrete with Fly Ash
Material adsorption, the reverse process of evaporation diffusion, directly reflects the wettability of materials. Wettability is one of the main factors that affect the drying shrinkage of materials. A device that measures the wettability of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) with fly ash is proposed in this study based on pore structure theory. The isothermal absorption curve of RAC is examine...
متن کاملPerformance of High-strength Concrete Made with Recycled Ceramic Aggregates
Recent scientific concerns to achieve sustainability in construction have suggested the implementation of using recycled aggregate in concrete because it has the potential to reduce the demand for extraction of natural raw materials and decrease the volume of wastes landfilled. In this respect, this study aims to investigate the suitability of using ceramic tile (CT) and ceramic sanitary (CS) w...

متن کاملOPTIMUM DESIGN OF LONG-TERM DEFLECTION IN SEGMENTED PRESTRESS BRIDGES BY CONSIDERING THE EFFECTS OF CREEP AND SHRINKAGE
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the long-term vertical deformations of segmented pre-tensioned concrete bridges by a new approach. It provides a practical and reliable method for calculating the amount of long-term deformation based on creep and shrinkage in segmented prestress bridges. There are various relationships for estimating the creep and shrinkage of concrete. The analytical r...
